Coachella 2010 video

Great video giving a peak at what Coachella was like. For those who haven't been you really can't imagine the scale of the festival, it is impressive. What a great time it was.

Help me raise money for Light the Night

Every year friends and family gather in memory of Janette Shattuck. For nine years we have come toghether to remember her and raise awareness for the cancer that took her. We walk around Green Lake carrying balloons that light up to show our support and to raise money for the Lukemia and Lymphoma society's light the night event.

I've set a goal this year of $1,000 dollars and with only a few days left I am quite close. If you feel compelled to contribute to research and patient care for blood cancers I would be deeply grateful if you would help me reach my goal. To those who have donated already, I thank you!

I'm tagging this for future reference.

Democracy by the Funders

Lawrence Lessig give a presentation about the dangers of the current political campaign funding climate. He really is a great presenter, and delivers a powerful message.

James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem fame on NPR

I've seen LCD twice already this summer and their newest release (This is Happening) is one of my current obsessions. Nice interview on N.P.R. with Mr. Murphy about a lot of things relating to music. Take a listen.

XFS the next great filesystem for your data?

I've been planning the reconstruction of a few servers lately and the rethinking of what the best approach might be has led me to XFS. While true it may once have been risky to use XFS in the past it appears they have made some improvements and XFS is now a great option for your data file system.

Here is a good rundown of XFS:

Learn the Top command options.

The top command is a utility to see what processes and resources are being used on a system in real time via a terminal. Personally I use it constantly to check on the health of my web server when connecting remotely.

The Geek Stuff has a writeup: Can You Top This? 15 Practical Linux Top Command Examples on 15 great things you can do with the top command.

Even though I use this command all the time I seldom use these more advanced features, but I will certainly keep the article around for reference.
